My PC freezes/reboots when I run Tiny Glade

Okay, that sucks. I'm sorry that you have to deal with that!

Before you read any further, if your system seems frozen, try hitting Ctrl + Alt + Del, and see if the Windows lock screen appears. Maybe it's not completely stuck.

It's still frozen, or rebooted? Okay, let's carry on.

For what it's worth, Tiny Glade never attempts to reboot your computer, or anything odd like that.

There are three main reasons that a video game might inadvertently trigger a PC to freeze or reboot:

Overheating

If the game runs for a bit, and then your machine shuts down, your computer might well be overheating.

Most of the time, computers will just slow down if running too hot - but if certain temperature thresholds get crossed, the hardware might decide to shut down in order to avoid damage.

You can verify whether the freeze/reboot stems from overheating by using temperature monitoring software.

If the issue is indeed thermals, try giving your computer a good dusting, especially if it's an older laptop. If that doesn't help, and you don't know what to do, consult your local hardware specialists or internet forums. Those will likely have some solutions you can apply - for example, for a laptop with insufficient cooling capacity, you might want to consider a cooling pad.

Faulty Hardware

Aging PC components can sometimes cause this behavior, especially old power supply units (PSUs). Besides swapping PC components, a reasonable way to check this, is to try running other demanding applications - other games as well as benchmarks. FurMark is a particularly great for stress-testing the graphics card and power supply unit.

If your hardware is new, or works fine in other games, it's probably the software side.

Software

Technically, the operating system and drivers are supposed to ensure that whatever an application does, the system remains stable. Even upon the worst of game bugs, drivers are supposed to just reinitialize the hardware. Typically the screen just freezes for a second, the offending app crashes, and that's it.

So if the entire PC reboots or freezes, that's a failure of drivers and/or the operating system. Most commonly, graphics drivers are involved.

It might well happen that some games work, while others trigger this behavior. That typically depends on what's exactly broken with the driver / OS.

Quite often, reinstalling graphics drivers can do the trick, but if the issue is caused by corrupted driver files or settings, you may need to force a factory reset if the driver installer supports it (e.g. on AMD), or use a tool like the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU).

Sometimes the issue unfortunately goes deeper, and you may need to troubleshoot it yourself. Visiting the support forums of your graphics card's manufacturer might shed some light.
